Mohammed Nazmul Islam Nahin

About

Mohammed Nazmul Islam Nahin is a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), where he joined in May 2025.

Prior to this, he served as a Lecturer in the Department of ICT at Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET). He holds both his B.Sc and M.Sc in ETE from RUET.

His research passion lies in making power electronics smarter — using machine learning to improve the performance and efficiency of renewable energy systems, motor drives, and grid-connected inverters. He has authored 20+ research papers and received multiple best paper and presentation awards at international conferences.

He is the recipient of the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship 2025.


Research

⚡ Power Electronics

Inverter topologies, PWM strategies, DC-DC converters, multilevel inverters, and switched-capacitor systems for efficient power conversion.

🔁 Control Systems

Model Predictive Control (MPC), Sliding Mode Control, Direct Torque Control (DTC), Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and PI/lag compensators for motor drives.

☀️ Renewable Energy

Solar PV grid integration, MPPT algorithms, transformerless inverters for PV systems, and induction motor drives for water pumping applications.

🤖 ML in Power Electronics

Integrating machine learning and ANN-based algorithms into power electronics for smarter control, fault detection, and performance optimization.

🏭 Motor Drives

Voltage source inverter (VSI) driven induction motor drives, sensorless control strategies, and high-performance torque and flux regulation.

🔌 Grid Integration

Power quality enhancement, grid-tied PV systems, leakage current reduction, and single-phase grid-interactive inverter control.
